Art Production INTERN

We are looking for a bright energetic ART PRODUCTION ASSISTANT who is passionate about The Sketchbook Series and Very Mary Inspired brands. This San Francisco Bay Area based position provides hands-on experience running a business in the creative industry.

You will learn what it takes to run a creative business from production, to marketing, to execution and being a part of a dynamic team. 

Internship Responsibilities:

  • Minimum of 5-12 hours/week, flexible schedule or as needed
  • Supports founder/Creative Director on art projects
  • Editing/scanning/preparing files/Researching for Book
  • Cleaning up artwork/preparing files to upload
  • Researching/Sourcing vendors & fabricators
  • Dropping off/picking up art prints from local printers
  • Organize and manage digital assets 
  • Photography & styling artwork/edit/upload product images onto website
  • Assist Creative Producer/Director at photoshoots
  • Assist with other projects and events, as needed
  • May help with setting up tradeshows/attend promo & marketing industry events
  • Create Social media flyers as needed

Qualities:

  • Passionate about creativity, art, illustration, design , graphic design and developing creative ideas
  • Current/past student in Art/Design or related field
  • Must show illustration, graphic design portfolio
  • Good at photography using a Digital camera, must show work (through online portfolio or instagram)
  • Experience with selling art prints/art products online is a HUGE PLUS++
  • Calligraphy/Hand Lettering ability is a HUGE PLUS++
  • Strong proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator, Adobe Suite
  • Must have your own MAC computer/laptop with Adobe Suite
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Must be well-organized and able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent Spelling/ Grammar a must
  • Self-starter who can work independently, self-motivated, honest
  • Friendly, outgoing, and sense of humor
  • Provide professional customer service
  • Tech savvy
  • Must be able to lift 30lbs
  • Access to a car/Valid Driver’s license
  • Can meet in person and flexible with locations  (San Leandro, Fremont, Alameda, Walnut Creek, SF area)
  • First 3 months internship, and can turn into paid contract work.

TSS Tour Coordinator

This role is in charge of the coordination of The Sketchbook Series Tour from start to finish. You'll work closely with the Instructor or Mary as well as other key internal and external partners.

Job duties include:

  • Liaison for Sponsors and Partners
  • Send out and update media kits to potential Sponsors
  • Manage terms & agreements with Sponsors
  • Collect digital assets from Partners and Sponsor
  • Manage marketing promotion schedule 
  • Coordinate communication between local sponsors with national sponsors
  • Generate potential partner contact lists and connect to explore opportunities
  • Post event follow-up with Sponsors and Partners
  • Cultivate relations among Sponsors and Partners
  • Send out Thank you Cards post event
  • Create streamlined processes for tour/class/workshop offerings

Qualities:

  • Detail orientated, loves logistics but can also appreciate working with creatives 
  • Personable & Relatable, but knows how to get work done
  • Great Customer Service 
  • Great telephone + email etiquette
  • Knows how to leverage relations
  • Organized, Friendly, clear communication, easy going
  • Great follow-up and follow-through abilities
  • Someone East Bay Area Local
  • A remote position, but requires some in person team mtgs in Bay Area ( Fremont, San Leandro, Walnut Creek, SF)
  • Event Coordination or Event Experience (REQUIRED)

2018 Sketch Instructor

Do you have what it takes to be a The Sketchbook Series traveling instructor? Are you charismatic, coachable, have a illustration background, open to traveling, and want to share your talents with the world? This could be just for you!

The Sketchbook Series was started in 2013 and now we are expanding and looking for amazing sketch instructors to continue the Sketch revolution for creative professionals! Mary teaches with graphite pencils , Copic markers, and finishes with black ink - must have illustration style similar to Mary's style and experience teaching adults in a easy going, upbeat, friendly, nurturing style - Must have sense of humor! Must get along with all types of people. 

This is not a full time job. 

Job duties include:

  • Learning the course curriculum
  • Familiarize with event/wedding/design vocabulary
  • Must be coachable and learn Mary's style of teaching
  • Setting up and packing class supplies for each class
  • Tracking and sending thank you notes/emails to participants after each class
  • Open to traveling within US and Abroad without an assistant
  •  Train with Mary as her assistant for up to 3 classes before leading your own class
  • Represents brand in a professional manner


Qualities:

  • Passionate about teaching intro/novice level sketching to non-sketchers in wedding/event/interior space/corporate teams
  • Must have a charismatic, patient, helpful, supportive teaching style leading a class of 10-35 adults
  • Have a background in teaching illustration or similar in front of adults and large audiences
  • Experience teaching other types of  disciplines; Digital sketching, interior design, perspectives, renderings, fashion design is a HUGE PLUS++
  • Preferred degree in art, design or at least 3 years related professional experience
  • Organized and reliable
  • Willing to purchase your own instructor's marker sets/supplies
