There’s nothing quite like it. This is my third time being at Engage (twice as a speaker), and no two summits are ever alike. The creative geniuses behind Engage, Kathryn Arce + Rebecca Grinnals, are the ultimate event producers. They, in my opinion, are the best at what they do! No detail is ever overlooked.
A few weeks ago, I had the honor of attending and teaching at The Breakers, in Palm Beach Florida. Opening day: imagine going into a giant ‘Candy store... but for adults. As attendees entered the beautifully branded Gift Lounge, they could fill their goodie bags with all the giftables of their liking. I, however, was still on a plane while all this was happening. Even though I knew I was going to arrive late, FOMO (fear of missing out), still succeeded. It didn't last long as I entered into the most glorious and brightly colored general session held at The Breakers--a hotel that is not only luxurious in it’s décor, but lavish in it’s hospitality as well. Getting to meet the event and wedding industry’s finest was definitely a special treat.
Later that evening was our first night’s meet and greet. I loved every detail--from the lobster in the frozen Ice Louge to the “making waves” signage in the pool waiting for us. Food stations, open bar, and salsa dancing, were brought to new heights; I loved every moment! It was Luxury at its best, and boy do these people know how to party!!
As I mentioned before, Engage Summits spare no details, and there is so much visual eye candy. One might buckle from the pressure of having to satisfy an audience of close to 400 elite wedding and event professionals (let’s just say this bunch has a bit more of a critical eye when it comes to event execution) or living up to the success of many prior Engage Summits. They easily delivered, and brought every detail to life, starting with each attendees place-setting, to the backdrop on the stage, to the break out sessions in between each well- regarded speaker. Visually stunning and inspiring alike--speaker after speaker sharing tips and honest to goodness failures in ways that left all of us all wanting to take our business to new directions.
During one of the breaks, we were escorted into another side room where we were greeted with a choir. They sang their rendition of “Happy” and “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough." I couldn't help but sing along. Now if that’s not a way to wake up, I’m not sure I know what is. Coupled with a sugar rush from the ‘emoji’ cookies and donut treats, it was a feast of all the senses--what a way to keep the crowd wanting more.
Afterwards, it was back into the main ballroom, to have a discussion with Lynn Easton of Easton Events--an elite wedding designer/planner and extraordinary business woman based in Charleston. She talked about the bold steps she took to reach her dreams. Followed by founding editor of The Knot, Carley Roney. Carley gave such an inspirational talk as well. She was followed by many more speakers, each having a big impact on me.
Later that evening, we were whisked off to the ‘Dine arounds’ for a chance to ‘Engage’ in a more intimate setting. We then headed back into the round room for desserts + cocktails. We were greeted with branded lollipops, desserts, and candy girls adorned in bright attire. The fun continues...
